AISD Teacher of The Year Awarded

Gayla Martin was named Amarillo ISD’s Teacher of the Year for 2021.
The Honorees were recognized at the annual Lamar Lively Teacher of the Year Breakfast.
Martin teaches reading and social studies to the fourth grade at South Georgia Elementary.
The Secondary Teacher of the Year was awarded to Heather Blythe-Yaws, who teaches AP, International Baccalaureate Biology, and sponsors cheer at Amarillo High School.
The Recognized teachers received a poster symbolic of their achievement, as well as a glass block.
Both of these teachers will compete later this year in August for Region 16 Teacher of the Year.
