AISD Announces Plans For 2020 Graduation

The Amarillo Independent School District is announcing graduation will be postponed until later this summer.

AISD Superintendent Doug Loomis has released a statement saying during the week of May 11 a time will be set up for seniors to take cap and gown formal class pictures as well as a video of them receiving their diploma. to be used in a virtual graduation video.

The AISD will also print up individual yard signs to announce the the accomplishments of 2020 graduates.

School officials also say they would like to hold a more traditional graduation in June or July, but will only do so if social distancing orders have been modified by then.

Superintendent Greg Loomis says the school district does not want students to give up hope for a graduation ceremony.
