AFD Responds To Fire At Old Globe News Office Building

The Amarillo Fire Department was called out to a structure fire in Downtown Amarillo Friday night.

At 8:59, crews discovered a two story building at 909 South Harrison Street with heavy smoke coming from it.

After a large portion of the blaze was knocked down on the outside, crews were able to make entry into the building to put out the rest of the fire.

No injuries were reported but crews did find signs of transients living in the basement of the Old Globe News Office Building.

Estimated damages to the Building were reported at $20,000.
