AFD Called To House Fire; Litter Of Puppies Rescued

The Amarillo Fire Department was called out to a blaze Friday evening.

Crews were sent to 2210 South Buchannan around 8:15 pm and found fire coming from the front side of the home.

Six AFD units were able to bring the fire under control by 8:56 p.m.

No Residents were home at the time of the incident and firefighters were able to remove a dog and her ten puppies.

The mother dog did not survive the fire along with two of her pups, the other eight puppies were taken by Amarillo Pet Savers and a snake was also rescued

There were no injuries at this fire and the home, valued at $85,000, suffered an estimated $50,000 in fire and smoke damage.

The Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the fire.
