AAMW Offers Free Microchipping In October

The City of Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare Department (AAMW) is making it easier for lost pets to find their way home.

On Saturdays in October, the shelter offering free pet microchipping. Each chip provides essential information, allowing lost animals to be quickly identified and returned to owners, bypassing the need for a shelter stay.

The free microchipping service will be available on Saturdays during regular business hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the AAMW facility, located at 3501 S. Osage. No appointment necessary and walk-ins are welcome. The process is quick and easy, taking less than five minutes.

Additionally, AAMW officers can microchip pets in the field upon request.
