20 Years Handed Out After Guilty Plea In Dumas Child Pornography Case

A Dumas man will spend up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to federal child porn charges.

Landon Joseph Garcia pleaded guilty Monday to “transportation of child pornography.”

He was indicted on that charge and possession of prepubescent child pornography in December.

The investigation began in June 2022 when the Texas Department of Public Safety got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

When law enforcement officers raided Garcia’s home on July 7, 2022, they said he was in the bathroom deleting child porn from his iPhone. They also found 1,620 video files on his cell phone and another 322 files on two USB devices.

Homeland Security Investigations agents also found chats Garcia had with other online users about child porn.

Garcia used Kik to share and trade child porn and he admitted to downloading and viewing child porn for over 10 years.

He faces five to 20 years in prison, up to a $250,000 fine, and 5-years to life of supervised release.
