Two Juveniles Arrested; Gun On Middle School Campus

Amarillo Police were called to Travis Middle School Tuesday morning on a report of a student with a gun.

After arriving at the school, officers were told by school administrators that they were provided information that a student may have a gun on campus. That student was located and taken to the school’s office, where the gun was also discovered.

Officers found the student had shown the weapon to another student in one of the school’s bathrooms. The second juvenile pointed the weapon at another who was in the bathroom at the time. Officers also learned one of the juvenile suspects later told classmates about shooting someone on campus.

The two, both 12-year-old males, were arrested and booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains, charged with Attempted Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon, and Unlawful Carry Weapon-Prohibited Place.

That investigation continues.
