Austin Middle School Renovations

The Austin Middle School in Amarillo will be getting new renovations after all.

On Monday the AISD approved the shoring project for the school which will in effect buy the school system 10 years to come up with a permanent solution.

All items having to do with Austin Middle were passed, with one recusal from Board member David Nance.

The shoring project would include a Smart Jack System thats expected to support the foundation of the school, while the original shoring would have been for three years covering 5-thousand square

feet, but the project passed Monday will cover 37 thousand square feet in critical spots.

Since the shoring is not a permanent solution, the AISD Board must come up with a permanent solution by year five at least.

Other approvals passed were new roofs at Amarillo and Palo Duro high, function door locks, and installation of air-conditioning at all elementary school gyms.
