1 Dead After Wednesday Crash
A Shamrock resident is dead after a wreck west of Conway.
On Wednesday at 9:40am, a 2019 Freightliner Truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling west on I-40 where a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup truck driven by 66-year-old Jesus Garcia Jr was traveling at an unsafe speed.
Garcia Jr slid sideways off of the roadway and entered the center median where he continued to slide sideways across the median and onto the eastbound lanes in the path of the semi.
The semi attempted to avoid the car by applying the emergency braking, but was too close to take any effective evasive action.
Garcia Jr’s vehicle spun around and came to rest upright, against a guard rail on the south edge of the roadway, facing east and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
