Wednesday Sports Update – Rangers On A Seven Game Win Streak

Rangers Sink Phillies

(Arlington, TX) — The Rangers got back to .500 with a 5-1 win over the Phillies in the first of three at Globe Life Park. Texas has won seven straight to get to 20-and-20. Nomar Mazara and Mike Napoli each had a home run. Napoli finished with three hits and two RBI, while Yu Darvish improved to 4-and-2. Darvish held Philadelphia to one run over seven innings and struck out nine. The Rangers and Phillies continue their three-game interleague series tonight at Globe Life Park. Martin Perez will take the hill for Texas. He is 1-and-5 with a 3.89 ERA. Philly will send out right-hander Zach Eflin.

Astros Annihilate Marlins

(Miami, FL) — The Astros scored eight runs in the first three innings en route to a 12-2 win over the Marlins in Miami. Jake Marisnick hit a pair of two-run homers for Houston, which has won eight of its last nine games. Brian McCann also drove in four for the ‘Stros, who lead the majors at 28-and-12. Dallas Keuchel moved to 7-and-0 with the win. The Astros and Marlins wrap up their three-game series today in Miami. Lance McCullers will take the mound for Houston. He is 3-and-1 with a 2.98 ERA. The Fish will counter with right-hander Jose Urena, who is 1-and-1 with a 1.98 ERA.

(Undated) — Two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Peyton Manning will host the 25th annual ESPYs this summer in Los Angeles. Manning has been named the host for the awards show in Los Angeles on June 12th. The 41-year-old retired from the NFL after winning Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos in 2016.
