Wednesday Sports Update – Rangers and Astros Lose

Rangers Fall To A’s In Oakland

(Oakland, CA) — The Rangers were held to three hits in a 4-2 loss to the A’s in Oakland. Elvis Andrus and Nomar Mazara drove in runs in the top of the sixth to stake Texas to a 2-0 lead, but Oakland scored four times in the bottom half. Yu Darvish pitched five-and-a-third innings to take the loss. The Rangers and A’s wrap up their three-game series today in Oakland. Martin Perez will get the start for Texas opposite A’s right-hander Jesse Hahn. The Rangers will return home after today’s game to begin a 10-game homestand tomorrow against the Kansas City Royals.

Astros’ Winning Streak Ends Against Angels

(Houston, TX) — The Astros’ five-game winning streak is over. Joe Musgrove gave up a three-run homer to Albert Pujols as the Angels beat the Astros 5-2 at Minute Maid Park. Yuli Gurriel and George Springer went deep for Houston. Ricky Nolasco got the win for LA, which has lost six straight.

Cowboys Pick Up Martin’s Option

(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys are keeping guard Zack Martin for at least two more seasons. The ‘Boys have picked up the fifth-year option on his contract. It will pay him over 9.3-million-dollars in 2018. Martin has been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons. The Cowboys drafted the Notre Dame product 16th overall in 2014.

Cowboys Continue Offseason Program

(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys continue their voluntary offseason program. The three-phase program begins with two weeks dedicated to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation. No on-field work is allowed during this phase. The NFL Draft is a week from Thursday in Philadelphia.

Cowboys To Find Out 2017 Schedule Tomorrow

(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys will find out their 2017 regular-season schedule tomorrow. The league will unveil the complete slate in a two-hour special on NFL Network at 7 p.m. The Cowboys already know their opponents, which were released in January. The preseason schedule came out last week.

Patriots Visit White House Today

(Washington, DC) — The Patriots are heading to the White House. They will be welcomed by President Trump this afternoon in honor of their comeback victory over the Falcons in Super Bowl 51. The Pats will be the first sports team to visit President Trump since he took office. At least six players have said they will not make the trip.
